Bison
We raise grass fed bison (buffalo) that live in pastures of the upper Blackfoot Valley. Our bison are never put in corals, trailers or holding pens. They are harvested in the field reducing stress, and lactic acid, producing a better quality of meat. We believe that this small scale local ranching produces the best food for your family.
Healthy
We never use antibiotics, growth hormones or feed grain. Bison meat has less fat and cholesterol that other red meat. We sell bison from November through March when temperatures are best for the meat.
Quality of life
These animals live in open pastures their whole lives, only eating grass or hay produced on our ranch.

Welcome
The Heart Bar Heart Ranch is in Ovando, Montana on the upper Blackfoot River. We sell whole bison (buffalo) and hay directly to customers. You buy the bison, we harvest it in the field, you choose the butcher, and how you would like your meat processed.
What should I expect to pay?
Most bison that we harvest are 2 to 4 years old and have a live weight from 600 to 1000 pounds. This will produce a hanging weight of 330-500 pounds. The price of a smaller bison will be about $1485(hgwt 330#x $4.50 per pound =$). A larger bison will be around $2250 (500#x$4.50=$2250), most will be in the middle around $1800. In addition you will need butcher/package meat yourself or pay a custom meat processor for their services.
